Organised by ASICS and Spectrum Worldwide, the inaugural ASICS City Relay is a brand new race concept which will see teams of four complete 42.195km in a relay format.

While long-distance relay is not a new sports concept – it was first conceived in Japan, where student communities compete in ‘Ekiden’ by passing a sash around instead of baton, ASICS City Relay is unique in that runners will race across the city at night. Enjoy live music, entertainment and F&B at the ‘race village’ and be mesmerised by the fireworks from the SG50 National Day rehearsal at the Padang.

Here’s the race format: Each team member will run one lap of the course around the Sports Hub precinct (approximately a 10.5km circuit). All relay changeovers will take place within the new National Stadium. While their teammates are completing each individual leg, participants can prepare for their leg of the race or warm up within the designated athlete zone on the pitch. ‘Live’ results will be shown on the two giant LED screens within the stadium to keep everyone updated on the leading teams.
