Need a good movie for your next book-out weekend hang with your buddies? The Entourage film is your best bet, bro!
Entourage is based on its HBO TV series but you won’t need to watch that to enjoy the film. Fans can still expect the same driving theme of brotherhood through the ups and downs of living in Hollywood and an insane number of celebrity cameos.
The movie starts off with a fancy yacht party off the coast of Ibiza where Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) receives a new film project offer from former agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) who’s now a studio head. Vince accepts but only if he can direct it. The other bros, Johnny “Drama” Chase (Kevin Dillon), Eric “E” Murphy (Kevin Connolly) and Sal “Turtle” Assante (Jerry Ferrara) also get a role each in the production entitled, Hyde.
Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment playing filthy rich movie financiers from Texas.
Trouble soon follows when the film’s production goes over its budget of $100 million, forcing Ari to ask for more money from the financiers, Larsen McCredle (Billy Bob Thornton) and his son Travis (Haley Joel Osment). Larsen sends Travis to Hollywood to watch the first cut of the film at the Hyde screening party before making a decision.
In a dramatic turn of events, Travis later refuses to continue financing the film in an act of pure jealousy against Vince for going out with his crush, Emily Ratajkowski. Whoa, bro! Not cool!
The calm before the storm (aka Ari Gold’s rage).
From trying to keep his marriage together and fixing Vince’s production issues to dealing with the pressure from the studio and the McCredles, Ari very nearly relapses in a fit of stress-induced rage. Though it’s all hilarious, Ari Gold is one character we can definitely sympathise with.
Best Ari Gold moment: During a counselling session, an already agitated Ari learns that Travis has locked himself in and everyone else out of the studio. Unable to keep his anger under control, he punches a photo frame hanging on the wall before letting out a frustrated yell.
Dim-witted but caring: Kevin Dillon plays Vince’s older half-brother, Johnny “Drama” Chase.
Another memorable character is C-list actor Johnny “Drama” Chase, Vince’s older half-brother. (Spoiler alert!) Despite having a weak subplot where he gets death threats from the boyfriend of a woman he slept with at the Hyde screening party, Drama shines through with his dim-witted but rib-tickling liners.
Best Johnny “Drama” Chase moment: When E and Turtle offer to help fund Vince’s movie in a rather ‘aww’ moment in the film, Drama is the last to turn to Vince. With a pitiful look, he says, “I’m strapped, bro.”
Fun cameos by celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski, Mark Wahlberg and Ronda Rousey.
As usual, Entourage boasts a seemingly endless string of amusing celebrity cameos, all playing a fictionalised version of themselves, which makes it really fun to watch! Celebrities include Emily Ratajkowski, Mark Wahlberg, Ronda Rousey, Jessica Alba, Ed O’Neill and more.
Entourage is a movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, so why should you? Just call up your bros (or girl friends) and enjoy the film. Be prepared to laugh your head off!
