Swimming is a great exercise for kids but it's also a useful life skill! As a parent, you want to make sure that your child enjoys learning basic swimming skills and how to be safe and independent in the water.
SAFRA FINS is introducing a three-day SwimSafer Holiday Programme during the December school holidays. SwimSafer is a national water safety programme that teaches children to be safe in water while equipping them with appropriate swimming and water survival skills.
The three-day SwimSafer holiday programme encompasses the FINS curriculum and a SwimSafer assessment. The SwimSafer assessment is endorsed by Singapore Sports Council (SSC) and conducted by the Singapore Lifesaving Society (SLSS). The delivery format will place an emphasis on lifesaving skills and theories that will allow your child to be exposed to interactive and real-life scenarios. The programme will be broken up into five different stages [shown below]:
But don't fret! Qualified SwimSafer coaches will be there to guide your child from basic theory lessons before jumping into the practical side of the assessment. SAFRA FINS curriculum will certify the students with the FINS certification (for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Levels), while the SwimSafer Certification will be a complementary skill to your child's swimming proficiency.
The table below shows a breakdown of the requirements for the SwimSafer Certification (Bronze, Silver and Gold):
