Here Comes the Power Tee

Here Comes the Power Tee

At an exclusive event of a power collaboration between ONE FC and Everlast, the media was treated with the official unveiling of a special limited edition t-shirt (as worn by the two models on the right). As one of the partners for the upcoming ONE FC: BATTLE OF LIONS on 7 November 2014, Everlast will be selling these at all their stores (while stocks last). Customers also get to customise their tees with their initials embroidered on the sleeve. The amazing design speaks dominance and strength, which fits the image of both the sportswear icon and the mixed martial arts promotion that’s based right here in Singapore.

Spotted at the sleek Everlast outlet in the heart of the city at Orchard Gateway was ONE FC stars Leandro Ataides and Kirstie Gannaway. Victor Cui, Owner and CEO of ONE FC, dropped by to say how excited he was to be part of this partnership. With both brands having already made their mark in the sports business, it will be undoubtedly spell great success moving forward. Be sure to get your very own special limited edition ONE FC x Everlast t-shirt the next time you hit town!

After the unveiling, we’re thrilled to have caught up with the two ONE FC fighters to have a chat about their upcoming fights.

The lovely Kirstie Gannaway may still be a little ‘green’ for professional fights on such a grand scale like ONE FC but she’s not at all new to the world of mixed martial arts. At only 15 years of age, she became an avid boxer who later moved on to Muay Thai, looking for more competition. Soon, she was introduced to Jiu-jitsu by her boyfriend Herbert Burns who’s also a fellow ONE FC fighter and then fell in love with the thrills of MMA. Now, she stands waiting for her debut fight against Malaysian Adek Omar at ONE FC: BATTLE OF LIONS.

“I’ve been training so hard for this and even before the training, I’ve been wanting to do this and I’ve always talked about it so I’m crazy excited! I think I’m more excited than I am nervous so that’s actually a good thing!” the 23-year-old gushed when asked about her first pro fight set at the Singapore Indoor Stadium next month.

Indeed, Kirstie puts in many hours of training and has a strict food diet in order to stay in the best shape possible. In her down time, the former designer often enjoys a quiet night in which includes playing music on her guitar, making art and even whipping up something delicious in the kitchen.

Also hard at work in preparing for fight night is ONE FC Middleweight contender Leandro Ataides. The 2nd-degree black-belt holder in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu is currently undefeated in the professional MMA scene with a breathtakingly impressive record of 7-0. Fully determined to become the first ever ONE FC Middleweight champion in November, Leandro has been training 6 hours a day for 5 to 6 days per week with the help of his team at Evolve MMA.

“They push me hard during training to get me prepared. It becomes a job for everybody, not just me. The gym really helps me out. We train almost 6 hours a day. It starts on Monday, finishes on Friday but sometimes we’d continue on Saturday. It’s just hard training,” explained the amiable 28-year-old Brazilian.

Even though his upcoming opponent Igor Svirid has had six fights this year alone, Leandro doesn’t even bat an eye about it as he believes that he can match Igor’s skills and heart in the cage especially when it comes to winning that title. After all, he did punch the lights out of his last two opponents in just the first round each time.

We wish them both all the best in their fights at the much anticipated ONE FC: BATTLE OF LIONS!
