With so many movies coming out in November, and with so little time on our hands, how do we know which movies to catch? SAFRA is here to help, narrowing down the list to our top five picks!
Skyfall – Opens 1 November 2012

The 23rd spy film in the James Bond series is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat, with an insane amount of action and excitement that will leave you wanting more!
After the operation in Istanbul ends in disaster, James Bond (Daniel Craig) is missing and largely presumed to be dead. The identities of every active undercover MI6 agent are leaked onto the Internet and M (Judi Dench) becomes the subject of a government review over how she dealt with the situation. When the service is attacked, Bond reappears and gives M the pretext she needs to seek out Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem). However during Bond’s chase, he soon finds his loyalty to M challenged after finding out certain secrets from her past.
Lawless – Opens 15 November 2012 (Our Hot Pick!)
Cast: Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman

Fun fact: Lawless received a nearly 10-minute standing ovation when it was screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival! If that doesn’t give you an idea of how good this movie is, I don’t know what will!
Lawless is an American gangster film that is based on the 2008 historical novel “The Wettest County in the World” by Matt Bondurant. The movie tells the story of three brothers who sold moonshine during the Depression in Virginia. The Bondurant brothers soon face trouble when authorities catch onto them and demand a cut of their profits or face arrest!
Chasing Mavericks – Opens 15 November 2012

Who doesn’t love a feel-good movie that inspires you to take on a challenge fearlessly? We have to admit that we all need these kinds of movies once in a while to instil a little bit more courage in our everyday lives!
Chasing Mavericks is about the true story of real life surfing legend Jay Moriarty (Jonny Weston). Moriarty discovers that the Mavericks surf break – one of the biggest waves on Earth – is not just a myth but exists just a few miles from his very home! He enlists the help of local surf legend Frosty Hesson (Gerard Butler) to train him to ride the wave and survive, and they soon form an unbreakable friendship that will change their lives.
Rise of the Guardians – Opens 22 November 2012

When the evil spirit, Pitch the Boogeyman (Jude Law) plans to take over the world, the immortal Guardians – Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman), Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher) and Jack Frost (Chris Pine) – team up to protect the innocence of children all over the world.
Life of Pi – Opens 29 November 2012

Has the thought of being stranded on an island by yourself, with just wild animals, ever crossed your mind? The Life of Pi gives us an insight to what it could possibly be like!
Life of Pi is based on the 2001 novel of the same title by Yann Martel, which talks about a magical adventure of Pi Patel (Suraj Sharma). His family decides to hitch a ride of a freighter, only for it to get shipwrecked. Pi soon finds himself stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal Tiger, a spotted hyena, an injured zebra and an orang-utan.
