In view of the current haze situation, we are monitoring the 3-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) closely. The safety and health of participants, staff and volunteers remain our top priority. The organising committee will adopt appropriate measures for the event in accordance to the guidelines by the National Environment Agency.

Should the 3-hour PSI exceed 200 within the very unhealthy range on event day, 28 August, the event will be cancelled. Alternative arrangements will be made for participants to collect their medals (all participants) and finisher tee (only for 21km Army Half Marathon participants) from Wednesday, 31 August, to Saturday, 3 September, at SAFRA Mount Faber from 10am to 7pm. Kindly retain your race bib and bring it along for verification during collection.

Should the 3-hour PSI be 101-200 within the unhealthy range, the event will continue but adjustments will be made to reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion – the 21km Army Half Marathon, SAFRA 10km Race and SAFRA 5km Fun Run will each be converted into a 5km walk and jog, while the Families for Life 800m Challenge will be converted into an 800m walk and jog. The final decision for each category will be announced by the organising committee 2 hours before the respective flag off timings.

All updates will be posted on the event Facebook page and affected participants will also be informed via SMS.

Participants should refrain from joining in the run should they feel unwell. They are also advised to take note of the health advisories issued by the NEA on the haze situation. Healthy persons should reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion. The elderly, pregnant, and children should minimise prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion, while those with chronic heart or lung disease should avoid prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical exertion.

Participants can refer to the NEA website for the latest PSI update and haze advisories.

For SSBR AHM competitive (21km, 10km) runners, you are advised to watch this video to learn how to install your RACETIME SHOETAG device on your shoes. Please note if the timing chip is not used as recommended, it may not be detected. Your RACETIME SHOETAG device should come together as part of your race pack for competitive categories (21km, 10km).

For participants who use elastic/lock laces on their shoes, we suggest that you remove the shoe lace fastener and thread the laces through the two large holes in the timing chip before re-attaching the shoe lace fastener. By doing this, you will ensure that the timing chip will always be oriented the right way up.

The SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon took a break last year and we are now back in full swing. Organised by SAFRA and the Army, the signature event will be held on Sunday, 28 August 2016.

It will feature two competitive categories – the 21km Army Half Marathon and SAFRA 10km Race, as well as two non-competitive categories – the SAFRA 5km Fun Run and Families for Life 800m Challenge.

Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Operationally Ready NSmen (ORNS) and those who have completed their ORNS training cycles will continue to enjoy a significant discount of over 75 percent on registration fees for the 21km, 10km and 5km categories. Their immediate family members and also those of SAF active servicemen will enjoy more attractive registration packages from as low as $9 for the 5km category onwards.

We look forward to seeing you and your family at the 24th edition of the SSBR & AHM this year.
