In order to ascertain the swimming proficiency and confidence level in doing long-distance swim, participants are required to participate in a swim trial.
All first-time participants must participate in a swim trial within 14 days of registration. Failing at the first attempt is acceptable as it will serve as a gauge on your current physical standard. You may book for another swim trial date within two weeks.
Exemption
- All participants (unless exempted) are required to attempt the qualifying swim trials.
- For exemption of swim trial, proof of completion (Certificate of Participation) from any biathlon or triathlon with a swim distance of not less than 1.5 km in the last two years (2008 & 2009) must be faxed or emailed to 6377 9855 or singaporebiathlon@safra.sg within seven (7) calendar days of registration, failing which participants will be required to attempt the qualifying swim trial.
Qualifying Time
- Participants must complete 1.5km swim (30 laps x 50 metres) under 40 minutes to pass the swim trial.
Booking of Swim Trials
- Each participant is allowed maximum of 2 swim trials.
- All bookings for the swim trial must be made within 7 calendar days upon registration.
- Please log on to www.safra.sg/singaporebiathlon to book your swim trial.
- Kindly note that all bookings are based on a first-come-first-serve basis.
- No cancellation or amendment is allowed once the swim trial is booked. Booking is strictly non-transferable and non-refundable.
- All swim trial booked is considered as one attempt regardless of attendance.
- The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the swim trials without any prior notification.
In the event the registered participant fails both the swim trials (i.e. still fail after second attempt), a full refund (less GST) on the registration fees will apply. (For example, if a participant paid $48 for registration but still fail after second attempt, $44.86 (less GST) will be refunded.)
Official Swim Trial Agency
- All swim trials will be conducted by the appointed swim trial agency, Synergy Multisport Pte Ltd.
- Please note that an administrative fee of S$10 (per swim trial) is payable upon booking of the swim trial.
Swim Trial Venue
The swim trials will be conducted at the swimming pools of SAFRA Tampines (1/A Tampines Street 92), SAFRA Yishun Country Club (60 Yishun Avenue 4), SAFRA Jurong (333 Boon Lay Way) and SAFRA Mount Faber (2 Telok Blangah Way).
Note:
- Participants are required to present a copy of the swim trial booking receipt/confirmation email and their NRIC/Passport, for verification.
- Participants are advised to arrive 30 mins before the swim trial timing, for warm up and stretching exercise.
- Participants will be notified of the swim trial result there and then.
In case of inclement weather
Participants will be informed by 6pm on the swim trial day if the swim trial is cancelled. Please log onto National Environment Agency's website to check the weather forecast.
