All about AVventura
The SAFRA AVventura is an adventure race consisting of multiple disciplines ranging from trail biking, running, kayaking, rope ascend, abseiling, navigation and mystery tests all rolled into one exhilarating race to fully challenge those with a passion for adventure.
Organised by SAFRA Yishun Country Club (SYCC), the event made its debut in 2006 with the AIA SAFRA AVventure Race which attracted 270 racers who had to navigate through virgin undergrowth, brave a 100m river swim, abseil, bike, run and kayak more than 40km in the Northern part of Singapore.
In September 2007, the event came back with a twist with the SAFRA AVventura - Coastal Challenge in which 50 percent of the race activities were held along the coast. For the first time, the Novice category was also introduced to give first timers a taste of the race. A total of 336 racers competed in the gruelling 35km race route.
In January 2009, the race was taken a notch higher to be one of the toughest adventure races in Singapore ever! Participants of the SAFRA AVventura Rough Ramble had to run, bike, kayak, scale a towering 25m rope ladder for the first time ever, sport climb, rope ascend, abseil down rugged slopes with their bikes slung over their shoulders, do water crossing and clear a jungle trail.
No one said that it would be easy.
