Rules & Regulations

Participants are to read the following rules and regulations before proceeding with registration.

General

1. Registration

  • Registrations starts 15 August 2010. All participants are to register by Mon, 1 November 2010.
  • Registration can be made in person at any of SAFRA Clubs (Mount Faber, Tampines, Yishun and Jurong).
  • Registration can also be made at the http://sgclimb.com/rockon/ online portal.
  • Payment can be made in cash, NETS or cheque at the SAFRA Clubs. All cheques should be crossed and made payable to "SAFRA", and submitted together with the registration forms.
  • All registration forms together with cheques if sent by mail must reach the following address before the closing date:

  • Registration after the closing date will not be entertained. There will be no refund of registation fees in the event that an individual or a team fails to turn up on the event day.
  • Participants under 21 years of age (on event day) must seek parental/guardian's consent to register.
  • Signatures on the registration form certify that each participant has read, understood and will abide by the Rules & Regulations stated herein.

2. Attire

An event T-shirt will be issued to participants upon reporting on the event day at the Competitors Reporting Booth. Participants are required to wear the event T-shirt during their climb. Only participants in the Mixed Relay and Amry Inter-Formation Challenge Shield Teams are allowed to don their team / unit attires. Only 1 T-shirt per category registered will be issued.

3. Reporting on Competition Day

All participants must report at the designated time on the day of competition (details of the competition shedule will be made available closer to the event date). Participants who failed to report within the designated time will not be allowed to join in the competition. Registration fees collected will not be refunded for failure to report at the designated time or no-show by the participant.

All participants must observe the Competition Rules.

4. Categories*

Difficulty
- Open Male/Female (20 years old and above)
- Junior Male/Female (18-19 years old) 
- Youth 'A' Male/Female (16-17 years old)
- Youth 'B' Male/Female (14-15 years old)
- Novice Male/Female (20 years and above)

Speed 
- Open Male/Female (20 years old and above)
- Junior Male/Female (18-19 years old) 
- Youth 'A' Male/Female (16-17 years old)
- Youth 'B' Male/Female (14-15 years old)
- Mixed Relay Team
- Army Inter-Formation Challenge Shield (AIFCS)

Mixed Relay Team consists of 3 climbers and 1 reserve. Each team must have at least 1 female member who is an active climber. No age limit is set for this category.

Each Army Inter-Formation Challenge Shield Team consists of 4 climbers from the same unit including the reserve. There are no limitations on the gender per team.

*Age of participants as of competition year - 2010.

5. Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 and top 4 of the Difficulty and Speed Categories respectively.

Competition Rules & Regulations

1. Judging

Difficulty Event
Participants will be judged by their legitimate hold-touch point; height reached by dynamic means is allowed. Should more than one individual reached the same height in the finals, a super finals will be held to determine the winner.


Speed Event
The fastest participant wins. All participants will have one attempt to for the qualifying round; the fastest 32 will proceed to the semi finals & the best 16 will proceed to the finals (knock-out
system)#.

#Format may vary, depending on participants per category. The organisers reserve the rights to alter the format to enable the flow of the competition.

2. Timing

Difficulty Event

Timing will start when both legs clear the ground. The maximum time allowed to scale the wall will be decided by the President of Jury and made known to participants before the competition starts.

Speed Event

Individual participants will be given a maximum of two minutes to complete their climb.

Relay team will be given four minutes to complete their climb. The timing of all four climbers in a continuous relay will be used to determine the winners in the speed relay categories.

3. Termination of Climb

A participant’s attempt will be terminated by route judge should he/she:

  • Falls;
  • Exceed the permitted climb time;
  • Uses unauthorised parts of the wall (e.g. side edge) for climbing;
  • Uses artificial aid;
  • Return to the ground;
  • Fails to clip-on the runners in the correct order^; or
  • Fails to clip-on after the trailing leg crosses the runners^

^Applicable to participants in the Difficulty Categories that require lead-climbing.

4. Disqualification

A participant will be disqualified if he/she:

  • Is late for the isolation zone reporting;
  • Fails to return to the isolation after observing the route;
  • Un-ropes while climbing
  • Uses unapproved modification of equipment; or
  • Fails to wear the competition attire provided by the organisers.

5. Appeal

All appeals have to be made in writing within 30 minutes after the results are displayed and an appeals panel will handle it. A charge of $50 (in cash) will be levied to discourage abuse of this right. The money will be refunded to the participant if his/her appeal is successful.

6. Important Notice

All participants are advised to ensure that they have sought and obtained medical clearance prior to their participation in this competition.

The organizing committee reserves the rights to amend any part of the Rules & Regulations without prior notice.
