Membership Terms & Conditions

  1. Membership is subject to approval. All membership subscription fees are non-refundable.
  2. SAFRA will make deductions from a member's pay with a Ministry/Statutory Board, or from the National Service Make-up Pay. The deduction will cover current and advance subscriptions.
  3. Membership is renewed automatically each financial year (1 Apr - 31 Mar) regardless of whether the member uses SAFRA facilities/benefits. To resign, the member must submit in writing his or her intention before 1 Apr.
  4. SAFRA may obtain updates of your personal data from MINDEF/SAF subsequently to serve you in a most efficient and effective way.
  5. A member found to have misled the Association will have his/her membership revoked.
  6. Members who are going overseas for work or study for a continuous period of at least 12 months may apply for waiver of membership fees. All applications for waiver must be submitted to SAFRA Membership Services Division at least one month prior to departure.
  7. Female spouse and children of Ordinary A/B/Associate/Life members are eligible for Dependent Membership, except for NSFs. Their membership runs concurrently with the Principal membership. Its validity and related privileges shall lapse when the Principal member resigns or ceases to be a SAFRA member, or is suspended when his membership is not renewed. Dependent Membership for the child shall lapse when the child reaches 21 years of age.
  8. Associate membership is open to all serving members of the SAF, i.e uniformed servicemen/women or Defence Executive Officers. Its validity and related privileges shall lapse when the Associate Member ceases or discontinues his/her service with the SAF, unless the serviceman has remaining NS liability whose membership type will then be converted to Ordinary A membership.
  9. Ordinary A members upon reaching statutory age, i.e above 50 years for officers and 40 years for other ranks respectively, will be automatically re-classified as Ordinary B members. Ordinary B members will be entitled to all the privileges of SAFRA membership except the right to vote.
  10. Members must notify SAFRA of any change in mailing address and other personal particulars. The Association will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may arise due to incorrect or outdated records.
  11. SAFRA reserves the right to review or suspend the Ordinary B category of membership.
  12. Members shall abide by the SAFRA Constitution and Bye-Laws.
  13. SAFRA reserves the right to amend any Terms & Conditions without prior notice.
