Proposal Submission Criteria

Eligibility

Established artists/arts groups with formal arts qualifications, relevant experience, and track records who are Singaporeans or Singapore’s Permanent Residents would be prioritised. Art intermediaries (curators, art societies/collectives) with experience in executing arts programmes for community would also be considered.

Evaluation Criteria

A evaluation committee will evaluate your submitted proposals based on broad criteria:

  • Artistic Merit and Strength of Proposal
  • Relevant Experience and Track Record of all artists involved
  • Audience Engagement
  • Budget

Programme Considerations

All proposed programmes should have a clear arts component and foster basic understanding and appreciation of the arts.

The target audiences for Arts@SAFRA are mainly families with young children for SAFRA Punggol, Toa Payoh and SAFRA Jurong, and working adults for SAFRA Mount Faber. The proposed programmes and activities should incorporate interactive, engagement or educational elements in order to enhance the audience experience.

Artists/arts groups should design proposals in line with the programming tracks and formats stated below:

Programming Track Description
Thematic
  • (Jun) School Holiday – General arts programmes that offer parents and children the opportunity to bond during the school holidays.
  • (Aug) National Day – Programmes that relate to celebrating the nation’s birthday and/or bicentennial celebrations in 2019.
  • (Nov) Festive Light up – Programmes that relate to the Christmas spirit and the joy of giving.
  • (Jan) Chinese New Year – Programmes that are in line with Lunar New Year/ Year of the Rat.
  • (Mar) Earth Month – Programmes that raise awareness of environmental issues and protection.

Programming Format Description
A) Core programmes
- Performances or Installations

The core programmes can be music, dance, theatre, literary performances or visual arts installations.

  • Performances should be 45 - 60 min and must include interactive elements and audience engagement. The proposal could also include pre/ post-show participative activities (as indicated in (B)) so that audiences gain deeper appreciation of the performance.
  • Visual arts installation is to be displayed for min. 1 week and should be durable and interactive. Interactivity can be in the form of public interaction with the displayed artwork or workshops that enable public to contribute to the installation.
(B) Participative programmes
- Workshops or fringe activities

The participative programmes can be categorized into workshops and fringe activities.

  • Workshops are to be no longer than 2 hours and should cater for 20 to 30 pax.
  • Fringe activities are to be no longer than 15 min and must be relatively easy for the public to participate at any time. The fringe activity should cater for at least 100 pax.

Venues

Performance spaces are usually held at each SAFRA club atrium or in semi-sheltered space. Venue matching will be done in consultation with selected artists and arts groups based on availability and suitability of venues.
