Rules & Regulations – Colouring & Drawing Category

Eligibility

1. The Visual Arts Category is open to all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (Singapore), between the ages of 4 to 12 years old as at 31 December 2019.
2. Foreigners or student pass holders are not eligible to participate in the contest.
3. There are 3 age entries to participate:
a. Colouring Category A: Pre-schoolers between the age of 5 to 6 years old
b. Colouring Category B: Lower-Primary between the age of 7 to 9 years old
c. Drawing: Upper-Primary between the age of 10 to 12 years old
4. Participants are required to fill out and submit a completed registration form to the Organiser. The registration form may be downloaded here.
5. Registration form submission and payment can be made over at any SAFRA Club Customer Service Counter, open daily from 9am to 9pm.
6. For online registration & payment, please scan a copy of the completed registration form and email it to Amanda at lamanda@safra.sg.
7. All forms must be signed by a parent or guardian. Incomplete forms will not be considered.
8. Registration closes on Mon, 10 Jun 2019, 11.59pm.
 

Rules & Regulations – Submissions

1. Participants are required to register at least 30 minutes before the start of the competition. Any late comers may still be accommodated however, with no time extension allowed.
2. In the Colouring Category, Participants will be given a total of 2 hours (including administrative briefing) to complete the colouring for a given template. Only 1 final artwork to be submitted for judging.
3. Colouring mediums allowed for the Colouring Category are
a. Colour pencils and/or
b. Oil Pastels
c. Participants may decide to use either one or both.
4. Colouring materials and template will be provided for the Participants.
5. Participants are only allowed to use the materials provided by the Organiser.
6. The Organiser reserves the right to remove any unauthorised items during the event.
7. In the Drawing Category, Participants will be given 3 hours to draw and colour their artwork (size 40cm x 40cm). Only 1 final artwork to be submitted for judging. Any incomplete artwork will be deemed as disqualified.
8. Participants are required to submit a live drawing & colouring entry based on their interpretation on the contest theme – Our Singapore, Our Future.
9. Colouring medium allowed for the Drawing Category will be:
a. Colour pencils,
b. Oil Pastels, and/or
c. Acrylic Paint
d. Participants may decide to use either one or all three.
10. Colouring materials and empty canvas (size 40cm x 40cm) will be provided for the Participants.
11. Participants are only allowed to use the materials provided by the Organiser.
12. The Organiser reserves the right to remove any unauthorised items during the event.
13. In the Drawing Category, submissions which copied the composition of existing works will automatically be disqualified, even if they are rendered in a different style, medium, colour scheme, or even if other elements have been added.
14. The submitted entries shall be the property of the Organiser and the Organiser reserves the right to use and/or amend the images for any practicality use. Participants may write in to the Organiser to retrieve their submissions after the competition, subject to approvals.

Judging Criteria & Selection

1. All Colouring entries will be judged based on: Technicality (40%), Originality & Creativity (40%) and Overall Attractiveness (20%).
2. All Drawing entries will be judged based on: Technicality (30%), Originality & Creativity (30%), Relevance to the Theme (20%) and Overall Attractiveness (20%).
3. The top 3 with the highest combined score will be the Bronze, Silver and Gold winners.
4. If there is a tie in the combined score, then the entry with the highest score in the criteria – Technicality will be the top winner.
