Be the Ultimate Sports KING at the first SAFRA Youth Sports Games!

Be part of the first ever competitive and leisure sports event for the youth at SAFRA Tampines! Come join us in the various sports tournaments and trials, and you could be our next sports star! In conjunction with the Youth Month of July, the SAFRA Youth Sports Games will be held on Sat, 14 Jul 2018!

With the support of National Youth Council (NYC), the event brings Singapore Armed Forces active servicemen, NSmen, friends and families, as well as pre-enlistees together for a healthy and sporty lifestyle. Youths age between 15 - 35 years old, are welcomed to join this event.

The event will feature various sports – Ultimate Frisbee, Kin-Ball, Futsal, 9-Ball Pool, Bowling and E-Gaming.

Youths, termed as personnel aged between 15 to 35 years old, are eligible to sign up for SAFRA Youth Sports Games.

 

King System | Ultimate Frisbee | Kin Ball | Futsal | Bowling | 9-Ball Pool | E-Gaming

 

KING System

Be the Ultimate King by doing well for your own sport! Get additional King points by doing fringe activities. Stand a chance to get a staycation by being the Ultimate King.

For team sports, an opponent has to nominate a ‘King’ in the opposing team. The ‘King’ can be anyone, be it the defender or attacker. Scores will double when a goal is scored by the ‘King’. Besides the scores doubling, teams will get to accumulate the ‘King’ points to be the Ultimate King team.

‘King’ points will be awarded each time the King scores.

For individual sports, such as Bowling and 9-Ball Pool, ‘King’ Points will be awarded when one hits 3 strikes in a row (in Bowling), or 5 hits of the cue ball without changing players (in 9-Ball Pool).

 

Ultimate Frisbee (Registration is closed due to overwhelming response)

Tournament System

1. The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the World Flying Disc Federation (Year 2017), and/or otherwise specified by SAFRA officials through the Tournament Director/Committee.
2. Teams will be seeded and then further split into various groups for systematic sorting for games. For each category, there will be at least 4 games per team, up to a maximum number of 9 games.
3. The main seeding for the first part of the tournament (Round-Robin) will be based on a performance-ranking system.
4. After Round-Robin, the various teams will be sorted into various Pools, with emphasis on tournament standings.
5. It will morph into a Single-Elimination stage, with winner progressing and loser taking the lower seeding for the bracket.

Ranking Stage – Round-Robin

Teams are ordered by win/loss record with Wins coming in at two (2) point and Loss coming in at zero (0) points.
a. Games will be of 10-minutes (30 seconds) with no score cap.
b. There will be no time-outs.
c. Half time will be at 5-minutes.
d When multiple teams are tied with the same record, the ties are broken as follows:
 
i. Win/Loss
ii. Goal Difference
iii. Goals Scored (More ranks higher)
iv. Goals Against (Lesser ranks higher)
v. Goals Between Tied Teams (If applicable)
vi. Disc Toss
 

The top 2 teams in each Group will advance to Pool ‘A, and the next 2 will advance to Pool ‘B’.

The last-placed team will be eliminated.

 

Pool Stage – Single-Elimination

In the case where there is an uneven number of teams and there needs to be a team for automatic advancement, the top seed will have an automatic bye.
a. Games will be of 15-minutes (30 seconds) for every game except the finals with no score cap.
b. There will be no time outs, and half time will be at 7-minutes.
c. Finals will be 20 minutes (30 seconds) with half time at the 10-minutes mark.
d. No time outs are allowed, unless otherwise advised.
 

Kin Ball

Venue: SAFRA Tampines, Multi-Purpose Hall

Tournament System

1. The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Kin Ball Rulebook (Year 2016), and/or otherwise specified by SAFRA officials through the Tournament Director/Committee. All other rules stated below will be applied, except for Walking Rule.
 
a. Missing One Contact
b. Throw Too Short
c. Downward Angle Hit
d. Designation Fault
e. Time Fault
 
Close Defence will not be allowed in this tournament. The players must abide by the tournament values of respect, teamwork and inclusion.
2. There are 3 categories in this tournament: Men’s Open, Women’s Open and Amateur Mixed.
3. Mixed teams can be made up of male and/or female players. 2 playing members must be of opposite gender from the other.
4. The maximum number of teams allowed in Mixed category in this tournament is 12 and 6 for Men’s & Women’s categories. A minimum of 3 teams is required to form a category.

Preliminary Rounds

The matches in the preliminary round will be 7 minutes. The top 9 teams from the preliminary round will proceed to the quarter finals, semi-finals and finals for the mixed category. The top 3 teams from the Men’s and Women’s categories will proceed to the finals where a best-of-4 matches format will be played.

The top 2 teams in each Group will advance to Pool ‘A, and the next 2 will advance to Pool ‘B’.

The last-placed team will be eliminated.

 

Pool Stage – Single-Elimination

The top 3 teams will advance to the finals to play a best-of-4 matches. The team that wins 2 of the 4 matches wins the tournament.

Teams will be accepted for the tournament if they meet the eligibility criteria and sign up before the deadline.

The tournament format is subjected to changes in our effort to include as many teams as possible. However, teams can be assured that the revised tournament format, if any, will be as close as the one stipulated here. In the event that there is a change in the tournament format, team captains will be informed of the change. Similarly, any other information that needs to be relayed to the teams will be done through the respective team captains.

Tournament System

1. The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), and/or otherwise specified by SAFRA officials through the Tournament Director/Committee.
2. Teams will be seeded and then further split into various groups for systematic sorting for games.
3. The main seeding for the first part of the tournament (Group Stage) will be based on a performance-ranking system.
4. After the Group Stage, the various teams will then play in the Knockout phrase.

Ranking Stage – Round-Robin

Teams in a group shall play each other once, where 3 points will be awarded for a win; 1 point for a draw; no point for loss. In the event that there is a tie base on points accumulated, position shall be determined in the following order:
a. Goal Difference
b. Goals Scored
 

Pool Stage – Knockout Phrase

Winners shall proceed to next round of the competition. The losing teams of the Semi-finals in the respective cup shall play each other in a 3rd/4th place playoff. Prizes shall be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th placed teams in all categories.

Tournament System

1. The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the World Bowling Association (WBA) and/or otherwise specified by SAFRA officials through the Tournament Director/Committee.
2. Singles will be seeded and then further split into various groups of 4 for systematic sorting for games.
3. The main seeding for the first part of the tournament (Round Robin) will be based on a performance-ranking system.
4. After the Round Robin, the various singles will then play in the Knockout phrase.

Ranking Stage – Round-Robin

Each individual will bowl one 5-game block. The 12 highest positioned players after the 5 games will qualify for the finals, seeded as 1 - 16 in all steps of the finals. In the event of a tie for positions 1 - 12, a 9th and 10th frame roll of will be played, repeated until the tie is broke.

 

Finals

The single elimination finals will be the better of 1 game. Once a bowler loses a match, they are eliminated. In each match of the finals, the highest seeded player will choose the starting lane.

In the case of a tie in a game in a match, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken.

Tournament System

1. The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), and/or otherwise specified by SAFRA officials through the Tournament Director/Committee.
2. Individuals will be placed into groups. Each individual will play 1 match against each other in the group.
3. The top 2 individual from each group will progress to the quarter-finals.

Tournament System

1. The tournament shall be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the International Federation of Association Football 18 (FIFA 18), and/or otherwise specified by SAFRA officials through the Tournament Director/Committee.
2. The competition format is single elimination.
3. The competition is limited to the first 64 registrants!

Single Elimintation

All series will be played with 3 games. Players who win 2 out of 3 games will move forward. In the event of a tie, the following will occur in order:
a. The game will go into classic extra time.
b. In the event of a tie after classic extra time, games will be settled with a penalty shootout.

Rules & Regulations

1. All players are requested to bring along their identification card or document for verification. Failure to do so will strictly be fortified as a walkover and not being able to compete in the matches.
2. Once fixtures have been finalised, strictly no replacements/substitutions are allowed at any point of time during any of the matches. Should any of the registered participants not be able to participate in any of the matches, the match will be fortified as a walkover. However, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to accept such changes if necessary and with valid reasons. Any replacements/substitutions are to be done before fixtures with valid documentation provided.
3. All matches will be played in accordance with the schedule of play. Postponement of any matches will be at the discretion of the Tournament Director or the Organizing Committee.
4. In the event if players failed to turn up for their matches within the grace period of 5 minutes after the starting of the match time, the match will be fortified as a walkover.
5. In the event of a player being seriously injured, he or she must be immediately removed and attended to with first aid, and the match will be fortified as a walkover.
6. All players must be appropriately attired and are permitted to wear footwear for their stipulated sport (e.g. soccer boots for Ultimate Frisbee and Futsal, bowling shoes for Bowling, sports shoes for Kin ball, etc.)
7. Players may be disqualified in the events of submitting ineligible players or unruly conduct, by SAFRA Tampines appointed Tournament Directors.
8. Due to limited places available, only registrations with full payments made are deemed as confirmed on a first-come-first-served basis. Payment received is NON-REFUNDABLE. Late entries after closing date will not be entertained. In matters involving disputes over the play throughout the tournament, the Tournament Director’s decisions will be final.

Registration

1. When is the registration period for SYSG 2018?
Normal Period: 1st June to 30th June 2018
2. How can I register?
You can register at any SAFRA’s customer service counters. Alternatively, you can also register through mySAFRA online.
3. What are the available categories?
Kindly refer to the "Registration Fees & Category Eligibility section.
4. Do I have to be a SAFRA member to join the games?
No, non-members are welcomed to join the games as well. Whilst registering through the customer service counter, our staff will be able to assist you in letting you know the various rates that you qualify for.
5. Is GST included in the registration fee?
Yes. All fees are inclusive of GST.
6. What are the modes of payment for registration?
You can make payment by VISA or MasterCard through the online portal. You can make cash payment through our customer front desk counter.
7. Do I get a refund if I choose not to participate after registration?
No. All event registrations are strictly non-refundable.
 

About the Event

1. Where will the event be held?
The event will be held at SAFRA Tampines at the various locations stated on the various sports section.
2. Do I need to fill up any relevant indemnity form and require parental/guardian consent if I’m below the age of 18?
Yes, participants below the age of 16 on event day are required to seek parental/guardian consent.
3. What is the age cut-off date?
The age for registration is between 15 years old and 35 years old. Participants have to be born between 1st January 1983 and 31st December 2003.
4. Do I require our own insurance?
No. Insurance is covered during this event.
5. Where can I find the game rules?
The game rules can be found are the individual sports section.
6. Are there activities available for siblings/children who aren’t playing in the tournament?
Yes. There are a few activities available for siblings and children.
 

On the Event Day

1. What should I bring on Event Day?
You should bring your own water bottle, towel and a positive attitude!
2. On Event Day, when should I arrive?
You are advised to arrive an hour prior to the start of the match time.
3. What if I’m late?
In the event if players failed to turn up for their matches within the grace period of 5 minutes after the starting of the match time, the match will be fortified as a walkover.
4. Can I bring my own sports equipment for the Event?
Yes. You can bring your own sports equipment for the Event, except for Futsal balls and Kin balls.
5. How much is car park?
Saturday before 6pm: $0.95/hr for SAFRA Members and $2.05/hr for guests
Saturday after 6pm: $1.90/entry for SAFRA Members and $4.00/entry for guests
6. Where can I find medical help?
There will be a designated medical help point, which will be briefed to you on the Event Day itself.
7. Are there shower facilities?
Yes. There will be shower facilities available for participants.
8. Are there water points available?
Yes. Water points are available for participants.
