Talks and Forums

#1 – Understanding Blockchain

Blockchain has been in the limelight for quite some time now, so just what is Blockchain? Essentially, it is a digital ledger of transactions that can record anything of value and here’s the revolutionary part: it can never fail, which means hacking will not be applicable in the institution of blockchain. Learn how this works, and why blockchain has been the talk of the town in recent times.

#2 – Practicality of Blockchains

There has been a lot of hype about Blockchain, with some promising usage often side-glanced; Banking, Supply Chain, Healthcare, Voting, Property Records, Education etc. We will be looking at how blockchain can help all these industries and more to be more efficient as a whole, and how adoption of blockchain will bring convenience to our daily lives.

#3 – Decentralised vs Centralised

What exactly are their differences? Decentralisation is the design of a network that does not require a central figure, but instead utilises peer-to-peer interaction to drive the network. We will explore how blockchain fit into the scheme of decentralised networking, and the pros and cons of each network system.

#4 – The Blockchain Economy

The blockchain economy is a potential future environment in which cryptocurrency replaces monetary systems, potentially on a global basis. This has profound implication on the future of banking and value exchange as peer-to-peer transactions on a blockchain does not require the help of an intermediary (e.g. a banking institution), which lowers the cost of transaction.

Roundtable Topics

#1 – Past, Present and Future of Blockchain

Blockchain technology started with the advent of digital currency, Bitcoin, but the use of Blockchain has since transcended to other industries. Other industries have since explored the possibilities of using Blockchain and there are many projects now that uses Blockchain in the services, applications and products they offer. What are the other ways Blockchain may be implemented and what can we do now to prepare ourselves for the future of Blockchain?

#2 – Mass Adoption of Blockchain

Blockchain is not meant to solve a single industry's problem; it has many use cases that can be used in a wide variety of industries ranging from finance, supply chain management to healthcare, data storage and more. Even though many are still discovering what Blockchain is about, it may not be long before all of us will be familiar with Blockchain. Find out how Blockchain impacts our day-to-day as different businesses quickly adopts the technology.
