Rules and Regulations

  1. Eligibility
    1. Specific Divisions:
      1. Open: Both male and female bowlers, regardless of age or average score are eligible to participate in this division. Participants must not have been in the SBF National Programme between 2018 – 2022.
      2. Youth: Both male and female who are born in the year 2001 and after. Participants must not have been in the SBF National Programme between 2018 – 2022.
      3. FFL Family Trio: Both male and female bowlers, with at least 1 bowler born in the year 2006 and after will be eligible to participate in this division and make up a team of 3 bowlers.

        *Do note that it is the bowler’s responsibility to check their eligibility before registration. Registered bowlers may be disqualified for entering the wrong division. *

       

  2. Format of Play: Masters Event Qualifier
    1. The qualifying scores will be based on the best attempt (with handicap, if any) from the Masters Event Qualifier in the respective division.
    2. Open: 3 game series (with handicap, if any) to determine the top 8 bowlers from SAFRA Mount Faber, SAFRA Yishun, SAFRA Toa Payoh, SAFRA Tampines and SAFRA Punggol (at either SuperBowl or Sonic Bowl Centres), henceforth proceeding with an 8 game series in the Masters Finals to determine the champion.
    3. Youth: 3 game series (with handicap, if any) to determine the top 8 bowlers from SAFRA Mount Faber, SAFRA Yishun, SAFRA Toa Payoh, SAFRA Tampines and SAFRA Punggol (at either SuperBowl or Sonic Bowl Centres), henceforth proceeding with an 8 game series in the Masters Finals to determine the champion.
    4. The following handicap system will be in place for all events:
      1. Handicap for Females – 7 pins.
    5. Participants are allowed as many attempts as they like once registered. However, bowlers must submit a separate entry form for each attempt.
    6. Each attempt consists of a 3 game series.
    7. The Masters Event Qualifier will commence on Monday, 1 August 2022 after 12.00pm.
    8. Master Event Qualifier bowling hours:
      1. SAFRA Punggol and SAFRA Punggol Sonic Bowl Centres:

    Monday to Thursday, 12pm-10pm

    Friday from 12pm-6pm

    1. SAFRA Mount Faber, SAFRA Toa Payoh and SAFRA Tampines SuperBowl Centres:

    Monday to Thursday, 12pm-10pm

    Friday from 12pm-6pm

    1. The Masters Event Qualifiers scores will be updated daily.
    2. Last entry for Open and Youth qualifying will be on Friday, 9 September 2022 at 6.00pm.

       

  3. Format of Play: Masters Finals
    1. Open
      1. The top 8 Open qualifiers from each SAFRA Sonic Bowl and Super Bowl Centres (scratch with handicap).
      2. Qualified bowlers will be notified via email by Sunday, 11 September 2022.
      3. Qualified Bowlers will have to make their payments for the Masters Finals by Thursday, 15 September 2022 at 6pm.
      4. The Open Finals will consist of 8 games being played on Sunday, 18 September 2022 at 10.00am held at SAFRA Mount Faber Super Bowl.
      5. The total pin falls of the 8 games (with handicap, if any) to determine the winners.

    2. Youth
      1. The top 8 Youth qualifiers from each SAFRA SonicBowl and Super Bowl Centres, will roll off in the Youth Finals (scratch basis).
      2. Qualified bowlers will be notified via email by Sunday, 11 September 2022.
      3. Qualified Bowlers will have to make their payments for the Masters Finals by Thursday, 15 September 2022 at 6pm.
      4. The Youth Finals will roll off 8 games on Saturday, 17 September 2022 at 10.00am held at SAFRA Mount Faber SuperBowl.
      5. The total pin falls of the 8 games (with handicap, if any) to determine the winners.

    3. FFL Family Trio
      1. The FFL will roll off 6 games on Saturday, 17 September 2022 at 10.00am held at SAFRA Mount Faber SuperBowl.
      2. There will be no qualifiers for this category.
      3. Each bowler in a FFL Family Trio team will bowl 2 games.
      4. The total combined pin falls of the 6 games to determine the winners.

       

  4. Registration and Game Fees
    1. All registrations have to be made via our website by Friday, 9 September 2022 at 5.30pm.
    2. Registration Fee (inclusive of 7% GST)

    Opens Single (Masters Event Qualifier) - $50

    Youth Single (Masters Event Qualifier) - $40

    FFL Family Trio (Max 20 Teams) - $150 (Inclusive of 6 Games)

     *SAFRA practices a no refund policy but in the case of a player contracting COVID-19, the player’s entry fee will be refunded on a case by case basis.*

    $15 per attempt (3 Game Series)

    Open Single (Masters Final)

  5. Tie-Breaker
    1. When a tie is registered in the Masters Event Qualifier and the Master Finals, the player with the highest game (with handicap, if any), in the respective qualifying series, shall be the winner. If this still ends in a tie, the next high game will be counted, and / or repeated until the tie is broken.

       

  6. Bowling Balls
    1. It is the bowler’s responsibility to ensure that all bowling balls used during the tournament conform to International Bowling Federation (IBF) and the Tournament Management Rules and Regulations. The Tournament Management reserves the right to examine the balls used by the participants. Use of an illegal ball is grounds for disqualification and forfeiture of all games, prizes and standings aside from any other penalties that may be imposed.
    2. Altering the surface of the bowling ball is ONLY ALLOWED BEFORE COMMENCEMENT/AFTER COMPLETION OF EACH GAME, provided they are made at the designated area and it must not delay the bowlers and the progress of the game.
    3. The specification eliminating the use of balance holes will be in effect for this tournament.

       

  7. Slow Bowling
    1. Slow Bowling is strictly not allowed and bowlers must bowl when it is their turn to do so.
    2. Bowlers shall be ready to bowl when it is their turn and shall not delay the start of their approach or delivery if the lanes immediately adjacent to them on both the right and left are clear.

     

  8. Verification of Scores
    1. It is the bowler’s and team’s responsibility to ensure that the correct score for each game bowled is recorded by the bowling centre.
    2. It is the bowler’s and team’s responsibility to ensure that all scores keyed into the system after the Qualifying Games by the staff are correct.
    3. All scores will be recorded, with only the top 15 scores shown on our website.

       

  9. Bowlers Attire / Tardiness
    1. Bowlers are required to be properly and appropriately dressed for bowling.
    2. Shorts/ Bermudas / Sleeveless tee-shirts are not allowed for Men and Boys.
    3. The Tournament Committee may disqualify a bowler if the bowler is deemed to be dressed inappropriately.

     

  10. Check-in Procedure – Masters Finals
    1. All Masters Finalists and FFL Teams are to check-in personally at the tournament desk at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time for the Masters Finals, failing which he/she will be disqualified and the respective reserve(s) will be called. Calls will be made at 10 minutes, 5 minutes and 1 minute prior to check-in time. The clock in the bowling centre will be the official timepiece.

       

  11. Prizes
    1. Prizes will be awarded in accordance to the attached Prize List. All prizes are subject to change depending on the number of finalists.

       

  12. Interrupted Game(s)
    1. The Tournament Management may authorize the completion of a game and series on another lane when equipment failure on the lane would delay the normal progress of the series. An interrupted game and series that cannot be completed must resume from the point of interruption.
    2. In the event the score of any game is lost and/or erased and cannot be recalled and/or traced due to power or equipment failure, the bowler concerned will be required to re-bowl a new game when the power supply resumes or equipment is repaired. However, all scores of completed games that have been recorded in the official score sheet shall remain unchanged.
    3. If a lane becomes unusable or unplayable before or during the squad games as determined by the Tournament Management or its assigned official, any available pair of lanes provided by the bowling centre shall be assigned to affected bowler(s). In case of machine breakdown during Event, vacant lanes shall be assigned to affected finalists. Any interrupted game(s) or series must resume from the point (frame) of interruption. No practice throw(s) shall be allowed.

     

     

  13. Calculation Error
    1. Scoring and/or calculation errors in the frame must be brought to the attention of the bowling centre staff before the commencement of the next frame. Any protest received after the commencement of the next frame will not be entertained. The Tournament Management shall decide upon questionable errors.

     

  14. Lane Breakdowns
    1. If a pair of lanes becomes unusable or unplayable before or during the squad games as determined by the tournament committee or its assigned official, any available pair of lanes provided by the bowling center shall be assigned to affected participant(s) or shall wait for the next available lane.
    2. Any interrupted game(s) or series must resume from the point (frame) of interruption.
  15. PROTESTS
    1. Protest involving eligibility must be submitted in writing to the Tournament Management within 24 hours of the time of the alleged infringement.

     

  16. Health and Safety Magement Measures
    1. Due to the ever changing Covid-19 measures or other disease control measures, the tournament shall be carried out according to any update as outlined in the BowlSafe Guidelines approved by Sport Singapore.
    2. All Qualifiers and FFL Teams will be required to perform an Antigen-Rapid Test (ART) before coming for the Masters Finals. Photo verification (with date and time in background) will be required upon registration.

       

  17. Matters Not Provided For
    1. The Tournament Management whose decision shall be governed by International Bowling Federation General Rules & Regulations, shall decide on any matter arising, which is not covered in these Rules & Regulations.
    2. Such a decision shall be final, subject only to an appeal to be made in writing to SAFRA Mount Faber within 24 hours of the decision of the Tournament Committee.

     

  18. Changes to the rules
    1. The Tournament Management reserves the right to make any changes to any of the above rules and regulations at any time before or during the Tournament.
