Masters of the Universe

Release Date:
4 June 2026
Starring: Nicholas Galitzine, Jared Leto, Idris Elba, Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, James Purefoy, Camila Mendes, Charlotte Riley

Explosive, unapologetically campy and packed with pure ‘80s fantasy energy, Masters of the Universe looks set to bring He-Man roaring back onto the big screen for a new generation. Directed by Travis Knight and led by Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam/He-Man, the film embraces the larger-than-life spirit of the beloved franchise while giving Eternia a modern cinematic makeover filled with massive practical sets, cosmic battles and over-the-top villains. With an ensemble cast featuring Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms and Camila Mendes as Teela, early reactions have already praised the movie’s nostalgic charm, humour and surprisingly heartfelt adventure, positioning it as one of 2026’s biggest crowd-pleasing fantasy blockbusters.

Scary Movie

Release Date:
4 June 2026
Starring: Anna Faris, Lochlyn Munro, Damon Wayans Jr., Shawn Wayans, Regina Hall

Scary Movie marks the long-awaited return of the Wayans family to the franchise that defined parody comedies for an entire generation. Fan favourites Cindy, Brenda, Ray and Shorty are reunited nearly three decades after the original masked killer attacks in this sixth instalment that gleefully tears apart modern horror trends. From “elevated horror” and endless legacy sequels to reboot culture itself, the franchise’s signature mix of slapstick humour, outrageous pop culture references and wildly inappropriate jokes will surely entertain and make you howl with laughter throughout. With actors Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans all returning, the film looks poised to deliver the nostalgic, no-holds-barred comedy that longtime fans have been craving, while poking fun at an entire era of horror movies that takes itself far too seriously.

Animal Farm

Release Date: 11 June 2026
Starring: Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Glenn Close, Woody Harrelson

Few literary works remain as hauntingly relevant today as George Orwell’s Animal Farm, and this new animated adaptation has the potential to introduce its timeless political warning to an entirely new generation. Directed by Andy Serkis, the 2025 film balances dark satire with emotionally engaging storytelling, using animation not merely as a stylistic choice but as a powerful tool to visualise corruption, propaganda and the slow erosion of equality. With a voice cast featuring Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Glenn Close and Woody Harrelson, the film could strike a compelling balance between accessibility and unsettling social commentary. At a time when conversations about power, misinformation and authoritarianism dominate global discourse, Animal Farm can be like a disturbingly current reflection of the modern world, proving Orwell’s cautionary tale remains as potent as ever.

The Furious

Release Date:
11 June 2026
Starring: Xie Miao 谢苗, Joe Taslim, Yayan Ruhian, Brian Le, Yang Enyou 杨恩又

Featuring brutal hand-to-hand combat, an emotionally charged revenge story and an all-star Asian action cast led by Joe Taslim and Xie Miao, The Furious is the martial arts event film action fans have been waiting for. Directed by veteran stunt coordinator Kenji Tanigaki, the film channels the gritty intensity of classics like The Raid and John Wick, while grounding its violence in a deeply personal story about a father pushed beyond his limits after his daughter’s abduction. What makes the film especially exciting is how unapologetically old-school it seems with practical fights, raw choreography and relentless pacing over CGI spectacle, especially at a time when many action blockbusters feel overly polished and weightless. Early festival reactions and online buzz suggest that The Furious could become a breakout cult hit, proving that Asian action cinema still delivers some of the most visceral and inventive filmmaking in the genre today.

Toy Story 5

Release Date:
18 June 2026
Starring: Tom Hanks, Greta Lee, Tim Allen

Nearly three decades after it first changed animation forever, Toy Story 5 feels less like a cash-grab sequel and more like a surprisingly timely reflection on growing up in the digital age. By pitting Woody, Buzz and the gang against a tablet named Lilypad in a “Toy meets Tech” story, Pixar appears to be asking an uncomfortable but relevant question: “what happens when imagination is replaced by screens?” Directed by Andrew Stanton, the film is poised to blend the franchise’s trademark emotional sincerity with an existential commentary on modern childhood, while reuniting beloved voices like Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. Even though some longtime fans might remain skeptical about whether the series truly needed another chapter after the emotional finality of earlier films, but the premise alone suggests that Pixar may still have something meaningful left to say about friendship, change and relevance in an increasingly tech-driven world.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Release Date:
25 June 2026
Starring: Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts

DC Studios looks set to soar into bold new territory with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a cosmic coming-of-age adventure that gives Kara Zor-El the emotionally layered spotlight she has long deserved. Led by breakout star Milly Alcock and directed by Craig Gillespie, the film trades the bright optimism often associated with Superman stories for something rougher, stranger and more emotionally bruised: a galactic revenge odyssey inspired by the acclaimed Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comics. With a vibrant supporting cast that includes Jason Momoa as the chaotic antihero Lobo, the film is willing to embrace the weird, wild corners of DC lore instead of playing it safe. Early footage and official synopses suggest a visually ambitious space epic packed with heart, rage and self-discovery, potentially making Supergirl one of the most distinctive entries yet in DC Studios’ rebooted cinematic universe.
